Big Girl Milestone – Ear Piercing

Hi.
Did you miss me?
I sure missed you.

So much going on here lately there has been little time to blog.
Baby turned seven.
She is growing up so fast.

This year, Baby had one single wish for her birthday…to get her ears pierced.

I figured I was about her age when I got mine done, so why not.

The week of her birthday we headed to the mall. Baby was over the moon excited. I, on the other hand, was a little nervous how she would do. I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best as we moms usually do.

Here she is moments before…looking just a wee bit nervous.

Having a few holes in my head ears myself, I knew what was coming. It’s pretty painful, and a bit loud. I arranged for both ears to be pierced at once.

I’m not sure if it was the sound of the piercing guns, or the actual pain of the piercing, but my poor big girl let out a yelp and burst into tears when the piercing guns went off.
It broke my heart.

My own eyes brimmed with tears as she clung to me from her high pedestal chair.
It was done.

After a few more hugs and forehead kisses, Baby was able to crack a small smile and show off her new earrings.

Did you or your daughter cry when they got their ears pierced?

I had both Zoe and Ana’s ears pierced right around 18 months. Our local pharmacy does the 2 ears at 1 time… so we went there. They honestly didn’t react any worse than they did for shots at the doctor. We also had lollipops ready for right after… and for an 18 month old lollipops are magic fixers of just about any and all pain… so that was a plus.
    🙂

My Aunt Sissy took me to get my ears pierced when I was about three years old and I didn’t cry. I just remember 2 quick pinches laying on the doctor’s exam table. I later took one of my patients to get hers done (she was around 3 or 4) at the mall and she sat in my lap and had them done without any problems. (her mother was afraid to take her because she figured they would both cry)
